Heart of a Dog
Canberra based play writer Jim McGrath approached us to bring his Russian musical Heart of a Dog to life with a series of promotional material.
Working with Jim, we developed concepts around the play’s theme and illustrated the lead character as an ominous dog taking on human like characteristics. We were inspired by the distinctive style of old Soviet propaganda posters. We carried this bold theme throughout all the advertising material which included posters, postcards, programs, newspaper and online ads. Using a primary colour pallete of red, black and white paired with striking geometric shapes and bold ‘russianesque’ square fonts we created an authentic and striking look and feel for the musical.
The collateral was easily spotted throughout Canberra in the weeks leading up to the opening night at the Street Theatre which subsequently sold out.
