Chasing Rainbows poster comp

We’ve just finished a fun poster competition for a Bike Festival to celebrate Melbourne hosting the UCI Track World Championships in April 2012. The poster comp is titled ‘Chasing Rainbows’. ‘Rainbows’ being the UCI World Champion stripes the champion is allowed to wear on their cycling jersey for the rest of their cycling career.

The brief was to design a “vintage” style cycling poster. It had to display the UCI colours of blue, red, black, yellow and green and the UCI logo had to be placed in the bottom left hand corner. Besides from these specifications we were allowed to do whatever we wanted. We aimed for a vintage look and feel – with soviet revolution ‘propaganda’ style overtones with a subtle blend of vintage promotional bicycle branding of a bygone era. Here’s a look at all the entries. This is a great illustration of how big a difference you can get from an array of designers with the same brief.
